Why it Matters

It is very important to build unity between the Latino and Jewish community in the United States. Hispanics are currently the fastest growing minority in the United States and according to the U.S. Census Bureau, one out of every six Americans is now Hispanic, accounting for nearly a quarter of all those under the age of 18. As the Latino community continues to gain strength in numbers, they will undoubtedly begin to exert greater influence in determining policy on key issues, including American foreign policy in the Middle East. The Jewish American community have always been vocal advocates of a strong U.S. relationship with Israel, but as anti-Israel sentiment continues to rise in our country it is crucial that we gain more allies in support of Israel. Likewise, the Latino community must use the influence of the Jewish community in policy-making roles to advance its goals in education, immigration and the economy.
