About the Event
Our event will consist of two panel discussions followed by a catered reception to complement the discussion. The panels will consist of students and prominent community leaders from the Jewish and Latin American communities. Our goal is for this panel to help expand the coalition between the Jewish and Latin American community at the University of Texas.

Building a Latino and Jewish Coalition on Campus and on the National Level
Joaquin Castro is a state representative in the Texas Legislature and represents District 125. In that capacity, Castro has authored and worked on legislation on workforce development, highway safety, and education programs intended to reduce teenage pregnancy rates. Castro serves on the Border International Affairs Committee and the Juvenile Justice Family Issues Committee.
Betty Ehrenberg, World Jewish Congress-USA and North America
Betty Ehrenberg is Executive Director for World Jewish Congress-United States and North America. She is also the editor of WJCs Iran Update. She has worked with many diverse organizations on international issues such as the Middle East, the United Nations, anti-Semitism, and on community, governmental, and interfaith relations. In 2004 she was appointed by the White House as a United States delegate to the OSCE Berlin Conference on Anti-Semitism.
